This guy was hanging around the same area for about a week. He was not calling here, just yawning...guess he was getting tired of me chasing him around taking his picture  At one point in another location he let me walk up to about 10 yards from him while sitting on a bridge railing.

Nice open mouth and the eye contact looks good! Not a fan of branches across the body but still a very nice capture!

Nice details in the larger version!

cool pose and nice details, Sharon. nice comp, I like the angle of the perch branch through the frame. I'm not crazy about the bg, would have thought at f/4 it would be more blurred.

Sharon, I like the yawning pose of the bird and the head on look at the bird. I like the reds in the BG too. Sharpness in the bird is good and the detail is decent too. The overall comp works for me as it shows nicely the type of habitat the bird was using.

I like those reds BG, nice details & vertical framing Sharon.
I especially like that clear sharp eye and open beak "yawn" as you say..
But if it was me I'd go with a calling theme
Well done! :toast:

Love the yawn Sharon, and the eye contact is great and the image is well detailed. I think that the red bg colors add a lot to the overall impact.

Almost missed this one, excellent shot Sharon, good detail and the busy background is no big deal to me, the larger version was a pleasure to view, way to go.
