Almost time for the baby mammals this year!
Very nice portrait of this little one. Nice pose and BG, and bright eye.
I'd suggest less room on the right, and more on the left - the direction he is looking.
There is quite a bit of noise evident in the larger version.

A nice looking subject with a good amount of habitat. The larger version looks a little noisy. . . how much was cropped away? I think a faster shutter speed also would have heled ensure sharpness though you would have had to bump the ISO even higher.

This is really nice Richard. The composition and pose are both excellent.

Hi Richard,

Cute little beast and a real nice pose in a very nice setting. The image looks a tad soft to me (primarily the larger version), but definitely not a deal-breaker. I can the see the logic of shaving a tad off the right side (cutting it quite close to the right edge of the tree) and adding about the same amount on the left side, but as presented the image works quite well. I can see a little noise in the larger image, but to me it's pretty insignificant. In a perfect world it would be nice if the other elk weren't right behind this one, but nothing at all you could do about that...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...and good timing on posting this - the young ones will be showing their faces in my region real soon!

The pose of the calf is very nice. My biggest nit is that it is difficult to decipher the oof individuals behind this one, and the obvious spots of another calf under this one's belly make me search to resolve it.

Love the low angle of view you acquired here with this one Richard :^)

Can't help thinking the body is outgrowing the head, but that's surely down to Mother Nature rather than anything you did or didn't do at time of shooting ;^p

I like this, Richard. Those legs go forever. Good exposure and color, also.
