Nice to be here after a while !

Caught this weasel on a foggy morning last weekend at a hillside near malibu, california. West los angeles is wild indeed

The sighting lasted a little over a handful of seconds.

Nikon D5000, 70-300 VR @ 300mm, f6.3, 1/640, iso 400.

Thanks for looking,
Anand :wavey:

Nice to find this creature in "west LA" They are around in my area but there are only a handful of people who have ever seen one.

Overall I like the habitat and the inquisitive look. I would clone out that little bit of vegetation that approaches the animals eye though

Real cute little fella you caught here Anand and I really like your choice of composition; really lends well to the impression of how small and easy to miss these creatures must be :^)

Hi Anand,

These little guys are common in my area but - like almost everywhere - are only rarely seen. I share Ashley's view about appreciating how you've presented the subject - almost "lost" in the vegetation. Given the scene I personally see no reason to clone any grasses away (if the shot was totally "clean" except for the grass Luke's talking about I could see the temptation to pull out the cloning tool, but - in my opinion there's no need for it here).

Cheers...thanks for sharing it...

Brad

You made good use of those few seconds Anand. I quite like how you have managed to portray this weasel in its (almost micro) habitat, which was not an easy feat I can imagine. :toast:

Good job with this capture, amazing that you had your camera ready for such a brief sighting. I've only seen one of these in my lifetime, and it was decked out in a winter coat...no camera of course. I think the comp is fine. Well done.

Great timing, Anand. These cute little guys are so elusive and easy to miss.

Thanks you for the suggestions and kind words ! I was shooting a red-tailed hawk when this guy started raiding a burrow close by and was able to react swiftly. I do realize how lucky i am to spot one
