This photo was taken at a South Texas Ranch. This little fellow gave some pretty good photo ops which is not always common for some of these mobile guys.

Canon 7D 300 mm f2.8 lens, f5.6, ISO 400, SS 1/320 AV with tripod

As always comments are welcome and appreciated as I strive to improve my photo skills through the wealth of knowledge of this group. Kind regards.

Very nice image!
Good perch, BG, detail, and pose.
There is a lot of BG dead space that seems unneeded - do you have the pixels for a tighter crop? If so, that would make this nice image even better.
If possible, you might also crop out the thin horizontal OOF area along the bottom of the perch.
Nice work!

Image quality is of the highest order! Really has a 3-dimensional appearance on the larger view. I'm not sure I would have given him quite this much space above. A horizontal format would work too, particularly if the hidden part of the perch isn't pretty.

A great look at this sparrow Carlos. Nice detail on the bird and perch. The bird is plenty big in the frame for me, so cropping in even more would probably make the bird too tight for my taste. If anything I might just take a little bit off the top as this would not make it too tight, but eliminate some of the space up there that is not contributing to the image.

Carlos,

A very nice look at this sparrow, the perch is interesting and I like the pose and view of the eye. I agree with removing some of the top of the frame whether just cropping tighter or going to a horizontal composition. I think the image could be lightened a small amount globally.
