Sunbeams over Moonbeam

Hi everyone, this was my first try at this location looking over the boreal forest of Northern Ontario (Moonbeam). I intend to go back this summer.

Any suggestions are welcome! I would really appreciate your comments on the brightness and contrast. In spite of monitor calibration, I’m really struggling to determine if my images are coming out too dark or bright with my new monitor.

Blended 2 exposures

Canon 400D
Tamron 2.8, 17– 50mm
ISO 100

Exposure levels look pretty good on my calibrated monitor. Maybe just bring the darks up a tad to reveal a little more detail in the forest.

Looks like a tough exposure here, Michel. Processing looks pretty solid here though. I might tone down the brightest of greens in the treetops as it's not what I would expect with that light position, but it's a minor point. I especially like the line of illuminated grasses up front.

Nice Sun burst and I like how the light touches the grass softly, very nice.

The centered composition works extremely well here. Excellent blending.

Brightness/contrast look good on my uncalibrated work monitor. Centered comp looks good to me, and the colors are beautiful. My only nits is that it's definitely tilted CW a little bit.

This is really nice, Michel. Only thing I can think is to maybe crop some of the sky and go a bit more pano.

excellent control with the exposures
would love to note that the skyline is a little bit bright. I mean the point the ground matches the sky
Great work
