A massive green iguana basking on a tree trunk directly above a river. He was over 5 feet long from head to tail and had little to fear.

La Selva Biological Station, Costa Rica.
Nikon D5000,70-300 VR @ 100mm, f8, 1/40s, iso 200
A slight crop from the sides.

I love the totally tropical feel of this image Anand, and the way it shows how well the Iguana blends into it's surroundings :^)

The most challenge factor in capturing a good image of large lizards is including all of their tail while still being able to have enough of the head large enough in the frame for the viewer to appreciate, and I think you've done a pretty good job with this one. Would have preferred to see it with it's eye open, but I can understand why you wouldn't want to disturb it's slumber ;^)

I think you achieved an excellent composition of a horizontal subject, with the background fronds and angled tree trunk adding nice depth and interest to the image. Yes an open eye would have been nice, but this has its own feeling. Overall, the image feels a little on the cool side and I wonder if a slight white balance tweak would make a good image even better.

He sure does not look stressed Anand! I came across several of these big buggers in CR also, cool creatures. I like the totally relaxed pose (yet I would have tried to get one like this with eye open and eye closed, but am sure you did too) and how you have portrayed him in its natural habitat. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a good spot to take a nap. Good overall image quality and detail on the larger version. Nice job in getting this, way to go.

Yep. A tough shot with that tail demanding to be in the picture. But you handled it and I like the almost Y form of the tree trunks and that the subject is lying on an angle. Good work, Anand.
