Hiding Out

Here's a photo that I keep coming back to but can't make up my mind as if I like it or not. I like the shallow depth and my focus is good in the eye but I'm unsure if the shadow coming across the body is distracting. So I thought after almost a year I would ask you for your opinions.

Canon 7D with tripod, Canon 100mm macro, 1/160 sec, f/4, ISO 100, harsh afternoon light.

Large photo included.

Thanks for looking and all C&C Welcomed.

Really nice - probably my favorite photographic subject, although I've only found them once. I think this works because the light is hitting the area so perfectly

It looks as though a beam of light is coming down out of the sky and lighting this little guy for you. The shadow is a bit distracting, but it's not enough to kill the image. I think the solemn pose and facial expression are really lovely. My suggestion for an alternative title is "Feeling Sorry for Myself".

These little frogs (and it sure looks like a gray tree frog) are my favorite. They sing so loudly from mid May through September around here. I think having the light only on the face and eye works well because that's what's in focus.

Sweet shot, though I'd like to see more of the body in light and perhaps better separation from the background.
