Think may be possibly G. splendens.

This is a very plentiful wildflower here in SW Oregon but not as plentiful as Storks bill which is almost exactly the same color and when I want to photograph this specie I must look very carefully as they grow togeather and appera as the same untill close examination. A small flower approx. 1 cm in diameter.

Olympus E-5 w/ 50mm F2. macro + EC20
aperture priority
FL100mm 1/60 sec @ F16

Thanks in advance for comments and critiques if any.

Very nice. The glowing purple color looks beautiful against the black background. I love the colors.

Glad you like this Varina. I'm just beginning to bring wildflowers into my shop to control light better than I did before. I haven't started to work with many backgrounds as some do here. Perhaps?

The only thing I can think of that would make this any better would be if all the stamens (pistils? I get confused) were covered in the lovely red pollen. Great shot, Charlie

Well these, IIRC bloom for many spring and summer months and I'll keep my eye open for polen loaded ones. I was attracted by that red glow too. Now that I take specimens inside to shoot with tripod and better lights I can do a better job with them You do know that those structures in the middle of flowers is called "stuff" don't you?

Charlie, you're doing great with these flowers!
Nice colours here, fine detail, and the dark BG really sets this off .
I'd consider moving the flower further to the right, and having more space on the left. It would be simple to achieve this by cloning in more canvas, if you don't have the room otherwise.
Well-done!
Sandy

Thank you Monica and Sandy for your comments and suggestions. Composition can easily be improved, as I do have space in original RAW file.
