Swallow in flight

Hi all, Here is the first of a mini project focussing on Swallows.

I took my first image of a Swallow in flight last year.

That image can be seen HERE for those interested.

Since then I have been waiting for them to return to try and improve and add to my collection. I saw my first Swallow this year at the beginning of April but it was the Easter weekend when I had a chance to photograph them. The promised light didn’t quite materialise when this picture was taken, so trying to get a suitable shutter speed and enough depth of field for two birds was always going to be a challenge.

More from project “Swallows in flight” as soon as the light is kind to me.

Canon 1dMK4, 800mm, f8. 1/1250 ISO1250

Cheers

Austin

Thanks for you comments, much appreciated. I am actually at the Swallow site now, fighting with very changeable and very little light. Some great action again this morning but high ISO and fill flash required. Worth an experiment at least but not sure how many will be keepers.

Thanks again for your comments and feedback. I have more images taken last Friday morning, but since then "project swallows" got interrupted for a family wedding, so I am not sure what success ( if any) i had on Friday. I will post more when I get back home.

@david I used the 800mm Canon for this image, but I think I may drop down to a 500mm on Monday, to give me some more DOF, accepting some crop will be necessary.

Cheers
