Altamira Oriole

This image was taken during a visit to Falcon State Park in Zapata Tx during March. There had been some heavy thunderstorm activity earlier which allowed for a softer lighting. This is a first year Altamira that was working its way up the tree branch to get to an orange. Immature Altamira's are not as bright orange color as the adults are. It's focus on food did not grant any better head position.

Canon 7D, 300 mm f2.8 lens, ISO 400, SS 1/640, Aperture priority with tripod.

Hope to post a few more images from this outing later on.

Thank for your all your welcome comments.

Very nice image!
Wonderful colours, detail, and perch.
A head-turn toward you would have been ideal, of course, and the OOF brach in the middle of the trunk is distracting. With careful work, it could be cloned out. Not sure about the left branch - I think I'd personally remove it.
Still, a keeper, for sure!

Wonderful comp, color and background. I do wish for bit more of a head turn, but still would love to have taken this. Sharon

Good-looking bird and just enough of the eye to hold interest in the way you've managed to capture it Carlos :^)

Assuming that you cropped at least some from the full frame, I think you could afford to reintroduce some more space, as the subject appears a little confined in the frame as is IMO.
