Mayflower for May 1st

Snapped this shot yesterday while out for a walk in the woods. We typically have two different strains of mayflowers, a pinkish variety and a pure white one. Man these are small. The largest bloom is at most 1/2 inch across. On screen you are probably seeing these blooms at 2X actual size. But they have such a magnificent fragrant smell to them to attract their pollinators. I could not find the scratch and smell toggle in lightrooms save for web devices so'll you just have to take my word for it.

Canon 5D MkII 100mm macro with 36mm extension tube, f11, iso800 handheld.

Great detail Bob and I love the color. Strong composition as well. The only thing I might consider doing is taking the bright leaf? above and to the viewer's left of the flower just a little darker at the brightest part near the top of the frame. Great textures, interesting shapes and for my tastes a perfect dof decision. An outstanding capture and beautiful image.

Man, you're brave to handhold at that magnification, even at iso 800. The flowers are beautiful and it seems that we're looking through the lower one with that sepal showing. I would like to see the entire image a bit brighter, but that might wash out those delicate hairs around the centers.

Very fine detail in the flowers for handheld. I like the natural background. Good job getting down and personal with these Mayflowers.

Bob: Great find and a superb capture. Really good POF/DOF management as well. I think I would crop about half of the dark area on the left of the blooms but this works well for me as is.>=))>
