From 2010 in Shenandoah National Park

I left enough at the bottom for the virtual legs. I appreciate your comments and critiques. I learn from each post. Too tight or alright as is composition wise ???

Nikon D 300 ISO 800 1/640 F 5.6 Nikon 300mm with 1.4 teleconverter

Thanks

Andrew

Mother with young shots always have great emotional appeal, and this one's certainly no exception Andrew :^)

Although you didn't mention if this is a crop from the original full frame, I'll assume that it is ...... either that or your stalking skills deserve even greater appreciation and applause ;^)

Seriously, working on that assumption, if this were mine I would definitely want to reintroduce some of that which you cropped all round, but particularly on the LH side of the frame (if there is any more) as to my eye the fawn is just a little too restricted.

I would giv a touch more room back if it is a crop and rework the blurring you introduced. Otherwise, very nice little scene.

The blurring is uneven and a little too apparent. There is a huge cuteness factor to exploit here and greater care in post processing will make this a winner. In fact, i imagine this look great with minimal processing.

Assuming this is cropped, I would add some room on the LHS. This because the baby it too close to the frame border and have no "space" to look into. It is difficult to appreciate details at this size.

Repost sized with more on LHS and less blur in foreground. Bigger size for viewing. Sharp enough ?? Better ???

I like the repost much more with less blur. The color in the repost seems much more natural to me as well! In both photos I am a little distracted by the straight line across the fawn's chest.

The repost did the trick. Cuteness factor as Anand mentioned, is sky high. The way the little guy is sort of leaning and those perked up big ears and eyes really makes this special. Love it.

Hi Andrew,

Very cute and I think the very good feedback you already received (you could pretty much ditto me on Paul's comments!) is spot-on. Your tweaks on the re-post make a big difference and I definitely prefer the re-worked version - well done...

Cheers...

Brad

I like the healthy sleek appearance of your subjects. The repost is an enhancement, IMO.
