Everglades Buck

Was out shooting fog and stopped at this location due to the layers. THEN I noticed the buck. Wish I had the 500 but only the 100-400 was with me so this is about a 15mp crop. Still, awesome to see because deer in the Everglades are so rare. A different story north in Big Cypress, but down here, the ecosystem just doesn't seem to support them.

Love all the golden hues and layers in this Paul, as well as the dew covered webs throughout.
Wonderfully done!

Small as the buck may be, the distance you had allowed you to create an even more compelling image by way of the wonderfully lit setting as well as the treetops in the background. Like this picture very much Paul, great job and thanks for sharing :^)

Yep. You're right. We've got lots of whitetail in Big Cypress.
Nice one, Paul. I like the spiderwebs, also.

Hi Paul,

Wow, I just love this one - works for me on a ton of levels. The fade from sharp and clear in the foreground to soft in the background is super, love the composition, love the colours, love the mid-ground, love the background - just outstanding! This is how to do an "animalscape" right!

The only thing I have an extremely small reservation about is the presence of the webs - they definitely pulled my eye away from the subject and just admiring the shot. I actually think this was only because I was trying to - for a few seconds - figure out what they were. If this shot was presented as a print it would be completely clear what the webs are and they'd turn to one more positive in this image, but for web presentation they may not be a totally positive element for everyone (tho' I DID notice several of those who commented like the webs).

But please take that as an EXTREMELY small reservation - overall I just love this shot!!

Cheers...

Brad

Awesome Paul! I really like this. excellent composition with the chosen placement of the deer and the BG tree line. 15MP is still ample to get a decent size print done of this. :toast:

Neat composition. Very moody image. Love the almost monochrome nature of the image.

Excellent shot Paul - I'm happy you didn't bring your 500.

Congrats on your EP.
