Primrose Waters

Here's the second in a series of bathing images, using the nearby primrose that have popped-up near the water here..
F/10, 1/250th, ISO 640, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + Kenko 2x ext and natural overcast light around 8:30am.
If you would like to turn your yard into a "red zone", here's an article that might be helpful.

I'm in the bath if you don't mind. Seems to be the look that he has. Cool shot, Howard. Ron :toast:

Nice image. Perfect DOF to bring out the facial expression and head tilt.

I think I like this one even better than the last Howard. The expression is very engaging. I like the setting and the color on the Cardinal is striking. I personally would have likely went for less dof, rendering the flowers and background into a soft wash, but nothing wrong with f10 and more dof either.

Very nice, Howard. The detail in the bathing Cardinal is excellent and I like the balance point provided by the flower.

He doesn't look to happy about having his picture taken while he's in the "bath", but he should be proud of the magnificent job you made of capturing his portrait Howard; splendid detail, wonderful composition, and the reflection is a great bonus :^)

The cardinal is very nice: I like the pensive pose and the loose feathers and reflection. This works better for me than the previous Painted Bunting - probably because of the bird's position.

I have mixed feelings about the inclusion of the primrose and find it competes a bit with the cardinal, drawing my eye away from the bird and towards the corner of the image.

I really like the wet look. The detail on the cardinal in the large image is excellent along with the eye contact. I also go back and forth on the primrose and might have considered a vertical approach with more water but a very nice image as is, well done.
