Swallows - mating

Although this image doesn’t quite fit the title of the original "Swallows in Flight" project, it shows a behaviour that I had not previously witnessed.

The "interaction" images that I shared in my last two posts may well have been “not ready” signals as the female protested at the males advances. Here her protest was limited.

The mating that followed was interesting to observe but photographically those images are not so pleasing having wings in random positions and overall a rather “busy” appearance.

C&C welcome

Canon 1DMK4, 800mm, f8, 1/640, ISO1600.

Cheers

Austin

Not sure if that is the correct word Edwin?

Hi Austin, nicely handled, perfect timing. Great sequence of events and a good story. Was the flash used on this one, although I guessed you would have mentioned it?

Will catch up later.

Thanks Edwin.

@Steve No, no flash on this one. I have used fill flash on one day during this project with mixed results. Most of the action takes place in a second or two and my poor old flash cannot recycle fast enough. I get the first frame with fill flash and the second frame is then without.

Cheers

Initial reaction - W :toast: W!

Good processing too to reduce noise at 1600 iso.

Excellent! I particularly like the expression on the male's face.
