Black Grouse

A first for me and what a memorable experience. I slept in the car (my hide) and got up at 4.15 - some birds were already in position. Unfortunately, I picked the worst day possible for light and only managed a couple of reasonable frames. But I can see why people spend days doing these - I'll be back for more!

11 commentsA nice pose - however the image looks a little dark especially the birds where I'm sure you can recover some more detail if you got your exposure correct in camera. Just a simple 'highlights & shadows' tweak should help.

Nice capture and one I hope to achieve my self one day.
Second image works better.
Davids advice is spot on and the second images looks much better.

Yes re-post much better. Good luck with your next visit but don't leave it too long as the lek will be tailing off soon.

It's a good starter, Ian. These are superb birds, and once the action starts they're great entertainment.
