This picture was shot 3 weeks ago at South Padre Island, Texas. The bird struggled with the fish for about 2 minutes and, fortunalely, it flew in my direction.

Canon EOS 7D
EF 500mm f/4 IS USM +1.4TC
ISO 250, f/5.6, 1/2500
Manual exposure
Gitzo tripod, Wimberley head
80% FF

Really nice!
Wonderful pose, good BG, great view of the fish - and it's rare to get a shot with the fish's head still intact.
The only small nit is the hot spot on the bird's head - easily brought down a tad and some structure applied.

Real nice image with the mouth of the fish wide open and an intense stare. Much nicer lighting than my image!!

I like this a lot Marc. A very nice flight position by the bird and it is always a plus to have a fish in the talons. The fine detail in the larger version is not quite as good as I was expecting given 80% of FF, could just be a processing thing. A nice image overall.

The shutter speed produced a sharp image but I think the image could be improved by selectively reducing the brightness of the white of the head (as suggested by others) and increasing exposure of the dark blacks just a tad. The dark blue BG works well with the dark brown of the bird's wings. Good job of capturing this action.

Marc, the whites aren't off by much and its certainly worth fixing. Great pose of bird and fish. Love it.
