Ele on the move

Many times, I happened to post old photos here, but this is perhaps the oldest so far. It was taken in Apr. 1993. When I processed the raw scan today, I got lots of mixed feelings.

I believe, this one can withstand the test of time, inspite the fact that technology has advanced so much during these years.
One side of my mind tells me that if I was taking this kind of pictures in 1993, then I haven't progressed well, in the course of time. Although, life has not been gentle and learning curve has not been smooth.

During those days, before the internet, we used to learn by trial and error.

I'll be very keen to know your views!

Pentax Super A, 200mm F 2.5 lens.
Thank you so much for your kind attention & views!

The lighting is lovely and the positioning works well.

Nicely done. I like the sense of motion you captured. The light has a lovely golden hue. I would say the scan looks great, but I don't qualify as a photo lab tech. I also don't know anything about elephants, but this one appears to be in rather poor body condition/thin imho.

The lighting is really nice and I like that you caught the animal climbing an incline. It distinguishes it from many photos of elephants walking across the flat plain. Nice image even though it's 18 years old. :toast:

Lovely light Jagdeep. I would not have guessed this was such an old frame, which goes to show that it can indeed withstand the test of time  The poor animal does seem to be in a very poor state of health.

great light and details here Jagdeep...I always find the Indian Elephant looking a bit awkward compared to their African cousins

I think this is a fine capture and the emaciated condition of the subject adds to the drama of the image and emphasized the nice angle of light.

Hi Jagdeep, apologies for coming to this rather late in the game.

I do agree the light is sweat offering some nice subtle tones, but for me I would like to see a bit more habitat/space around the subject and the fact that the Elephant is almost walking away from the viewer I find awkward in the overall composition., as if that look & eye gave a feeling of unease & nervousness which i am sure was not the case.

Saying all that, I do think it has stayed the test of time and goes to show with skills like this without digital it can lead to only greater things.
