Drive By Shooting

I took this picture on my high school Europe trip with my Samsung S700 point and shoot camera back in April, 2007. We were on a tour bus traveling from Paris, France out into the country. We had to wake up around 4 that morning to make the bus, so we had all slept through the ride. Fortunately I happened to wake up when we were passing this beautiful site, and decided to try to take a picture out the window before falling back asleep. When I got home from the trip and looked through my photos, this was by far my favorite, and my most surprising considering we were going 100km/h (about 60mph) and that it was with a point and shoot through the bus window. Needless to say, this is one of my favorite pictures. This is the picture that started it all for me, the one that made me realize I loved photography.

This is the first photo I have posted on this forum. All feedback is greatly appreciated

Wow - amazing quality considering the circumstances - I really like the color and the exposure. The fact that the closest grass is black really gives a nice mood to the shot. Great job.

Welcome Erin, this is a fine image capturing mood and beauty in the morning. The dark transitioning to bright light is great...as well seeing the dark grass and gold brown buds or new growth blends together nicely. Wonderful capture for a hurried click amid the motion.

Beautiful backlit scene. Sometimes things just all fall in place. :toast:

Maybe a tad on the dark side, but it has great mood and visual impact this way. Nice deep composition!

It's not the camera, but what we see. Good eye for this landscape and good for you for giving it a try.
