I found a pair of woodies on the Wissahickon Creek. They were more interested in each other than me :). I layed on the bank for about an hour just shooting away! Really happy to get this species!

50D, 500mm, Iso 100, 1/160, F4 Please see LARGER version.

Very nice portrait of a beautiful duck. Perhaps a little more room in the bottom would balance out the image, if you have that option.

Also curious about your choice of iso and DOF - is there a reason why you went that low?

Sharon:
I agree with the desire expressed by others for more room at the bottom. It's a beautiful bird and your image is better than any I have of this species. Good detail in the areas of the bird that are not in shadow. Good job of not overexposing the whites. Ideally, one might wish for a view of the entire duck with the head not in shadow. Someday, I hope to take such a shot!

Congrats on getting this species Sharon, nice job on the exposure. Iso 200 and some more depth of field would have improved this I think. :toast:
