The stare

Another from my evenings in the forest. Saunday nigth I was blighted with heat haze coming off the fields, even quite close the shots were affected. This is about as close as I ever got to a roe deer, very skittish around here.

Now thats some serious eye contact, Neil. This is a lovely portrait of my favourite species of deer, well done on getting so close.

A stunning portrait of a beautiful animal. I love the alert expression and the eye contact, the fact that you've caught her mid coat change adds to the overall interest and appeal too.
I can totally relate to the problems with heat haze, I find it a nightmare whilst photographing Roe from Spring onwards, particularly on heathland, which seems to be especially problematic in this regard. I'd much rather be out in a torrential downpour than harsh, hazy sunlight.

Neil the detail on this is great if this is what you get with heat haze then bring on some more.

Amazing considering your at 1120mm equivalent (good technique). The detail in the deer is quite lovely. Bigger version is better.
