I think this butterfly belongs to the Metalmark family, but I don't know the exact name. Taken last summer in the Rio Grande Valley.

40D 100 macro IS
f7,1 1/100
ISO 400
-0,33

Thanks for viewing.
C&C are very welcome.

Nice shot, Monica. I like the unusual point of view, the BG and the colours combination of the BF and of the flower.

Monica, the butterfly and the flower with a shallow DOF look beautiful. Great focus on the head. I am not sure about so much "empty" space on the left of the frame. But love the shot overall. Chris

Beautiful butterfly, Monica. I checked my butterfly guide and as you say it looks like a metalmark, maybe Arizona, Fatal or Lost metalmark. The distinct white squares along wing edges rather than scattered white fringes looks Arizona. Good shot! :jump:

F/7.1 works very nicely here Monica, all the important parts are sharply detailed..
Perfect colors and exposure, nice smooth complimentary bokeh.
VERY easy on the eye! :toast:
Be well :wavey:

Monica, a really nice image. The shallow DOF seems to really work in this shot.

Its unusual to find a butterfly shot that is so unique. This one is just right. I love the narrow depth of field, and the analogous color scheme is gorgeous. Really beautiful!
