The Gift of Spring

Saw the mother earlier today and as I returned home I found this little guy lazing unfortunately in the roadway.
Last year I saw three kits of one family killed by cars in a matter of a few days. I hope to keep this one frightened away, but the den is very close to a road that is used by people who sometimes seem to make sport of running over whatever wild thing they see.

Very cute and pretty darn good for hand-held. The vegetation adds a nice frame.

I love the vegetation which is something I was not fortunate enough to have at the fox dens I photographed this spring. Sharpness is an issue but considering the SS and HH it's pretty good

Cuteness overload on this one. :toast: :toast:

Might be tempted to tone down the white highlights/blobs above the right ear, however you have done exceedingly well the techs.

very cute indeed!
given the kit was looking slightly to the RHS, I would have loved a bit more space on that side
the head doesn't seem to be critically sharp, and with your camera/lens combo I think you could have easily pushed up the ISO to give you better shutter speed

Very nice capture! I agree about bumping up the ISO some more, especially since the D700 is supposed to perform quite well with higher ISOs.

Beautiful shot. The foliage and flowers are a great addition. It and the pose really fit the fox characterization of subtle but curious.

Very high on cuteness scale ! Could have further improved with higher ISO, Agree about toning down the white flower.

Incredibly cute Durwood  . I love those shiny eyes and the inclusion of the flowers. The point made about more space on the right is a valid one, although ideally a slight head turn to the left would have made this framing work. Nice DOF also. I agree that you were risking unsharpness at 1/60 sec, but from this small image it cannot be judged whether indeed the image is really sharp or not. :toast:

Wonderful image, Durwood. Really like how its peeking out and next to a flower at that.

Very nice! However, the blown out flower is distracting, I would try to darken it so the fox is your focal point.
