Dark with Corner Props

Yesterday was a sunny warm evening. Everyone skipping and walking...looking for lost sunglasses. This was one of last photo taken before night shades swallowed the last light. And rains returned.

Zeiss 35 mm, Nikon D300, 20 sec shutter, F16, ISO 200, cable, polarizer, and mirror up.

Very interesting shot Ken. I like the comp and POV, and you've brought out good detail. The blue tone from the evening light and long exposure gives the leaves a near florescent look. I like the contrast of the bright leaves to the dark shadow. I'm not sure about the leaves on the bottom right. They tend to draw my attention away from the main subject.

Ken, I really like the light in this one. Not sure about the "corner props". I might be tempted to try adding the props to the ULC as a flip.

Although the lower leaves add some balance to this layout, I think I would crop/clone them out and just display this stunning subject. Alone, these leaves are WOW!

This one's not working for me Ken. I like the subject and the corner leaves individually but I'm having trouble with them put together. Maybe it's the yellow in the bottom leaves or maybe the pattern they create relative to the subject. I'm not sure. I also agree with you that the subject seems to need a little something though. Part of it may be that to me the leaves look very natural whereas the subject looks more graphical and abstract. I like that abstract quality but it may be another reason that the leaves don't look right to me. Very interesting image.

Hey Ken, love the processing on this image. Great feel, and like the comp as well.

I love the supporting cast on the bottom right Ken. Excellent sharpness on your main subject too. Very pretty. I like the use of the darkness/negative space too.

Hey, I spy a hosta. I have many hostas; a similar one to this called "June" is one of my favorites. Rich lighting on the leaves and great contrast with BG. I would agree with cropping out the bottom plant.

Ken:
Wow! really like the central clump with almost iridescent glow to the leaves. Not sure of about the supporting cast though.

Thanks for the comments! The corner leaves are on the way out...sucked into a black hole where even light cannot escape....lol
