Peony Glory

This tree peony, originally from my Grandmother's Ohio farm, has logged more frequent miles than I have. From Ohio to California, then to Tennessee and now North Carolina.

Just to try something different, I used Silver Efex Pro and added a control point to bring out the color in the center. And then did a bit of cropping to make just the flower the focal point.

Camera is a Nikon D7000, tripod, auto focus.

Comments are greatly appreciated.

Love this - very fine detail, lines and textures.
Great as is, but I'd also experiment with making the yellow center really pop.
Nice!

I like the moody feel this images has for me. The water droplets add to the feeling. Very nice treatment!

Thanks for your comments and for taking a view of this image. Sandy, I worked a bit on the center but it just never looked natural enough. I'll keep that in mind as I process other images. Thanks again everyone.

Another nice job, Barbara. The details are great and the range of values really brings it to life. Wonder if you considered just B&W?

I like both versions. I wonder what the B&W version would look like with a "very tiny" amount of yellow color left in the center?
(Just thinking out loud)

Jeremy, too much color or just enough? So many ways to work with images ... gotta love them, and I do, and I appreciate all the comments and feedback.

Absolutely gorgeous. Nice tonal gradations and contrast with the bit of color.

Thanks Jeremy. I'm a bit more partial to the first image, but there are applications for each one of the variations. I definitely had fun working with this image and all the comments. This is a great learning tool and I appreciate all that view my images.
