Sparrow Hawk

That much water about its a break from the pools for a while.
I put the dead thorn twigs up to stop this bird getting a straight run into the garden through a gap in the hedge. So the bird said thanks a lot and promptly sat in them.
Interestingly this was through the kitchen window which has the old type glass which usually distorts every thing. There is one sweet spot and I must have found it by accident !! Only got the one shot.
D200 ( 120 thousand activations by the way !)
Sigma 50-500( Not poorly any more )
500 ISO
125th @f7
Levels Paint Shop Pro
CZM
70 % of full frame.

Hi John,

That's a beautiful shot of this very nervous bird of prey so well caught!
There is a very strong green cast in the image though so if you like me to post a corrected version just let me know as i have a neutralised version on my computer right now for you.

greetings,

Jeroen Stel

Jeron
yes post your ammended one. I,ve been onto several people and they agree theres something wrong but can't correct it !
The only thing I can think is there were two dead nettele stems in front of the window about 25 foot from the bird and in line with it so I virtually had to focus through them. Its the colour on the back of the bird I,m told and yet when I dropper the whites they come out ok !!
Let me know what you did by the way in case I ever get PS. This image is processed exactly the same as every thing I do so I reckon it was the OOF nettle stems.
Cheers

Concur with Jeroen re colour cast but a super capture, the eyes has it and I like the very 'natural' setting! :toast:

Hi John,

Luckily i still had the corrected image on my desktop..
Waht i did was what i always do prior to post processing wich is to neutralise an image by making sure all RGB channels are overlapping in the histogram. Takes a bit of work to get right but it always does the trick.

greetings,

Thanks all.
Barrie - You can do it with screen capture.
I must admit a lot of people have said theres not a lot of difference. My eyes are not the best at colour anyway. Sometimes the more I mess with a shot the worse it gets.A friend of mine can see magenta in the tail but it doesnt show on my set up .
Cheers

You are right Barrie, but the stupid thing is, you CAN with the larger version!!! What is the point of that!

I must admit a lot of people have said theres not a lot of difference.

Maybe John, but did you know that statistically, 1 in 10 men are colour-blind? And most photogs are blokes!
