Well handled exposure, Graham. You obviously had some pretty intense light, but all the whites are within gamut. The detail in the midtones and shadows is very good. The only problem I see is probably more a function of the crop—my thought is the subject should be lower in the frame, to lessen the blurred compression in the foreground. That would work if you have enough more up top to add to bring the subject down to the bottom third line. Either that or a pano crop.

A very nice setting for the beautiful duck Graham. A tough exposure handled well, nice head turn and I like the low angle. Well done.

Beautiful. Might like to see the water brightened just a bit to highlight reflection.

Very nice, Graham. The green of the background and dark waters make the duck really pop out of the image. Nice low angle.

Lovely low angle and a nice job on a tough exposure. Have these guys been introduced over there?

Hi Nate, It was a complete surprise to me to see this duck on our local pool but it only stayed for a couple of days so it was just passing through. Haven't seen any reports of other Wood Ducks in the area but it just goes to show that it pays to keep revisiting your local patch and occassionally it throws up a rarity. Graham

A very nice job on a famously difficult subject. The reeds and low angle add a lot. I had no idea Wood Ducks were in the UK.

Nice colors and pose Graham. I can't get within a mile of Woodies here. Great job of managing this one!
