A pair of my favorite day lilies. The f22 version is posted below. I'm partial to this version but would appreciate your comments. >=))>

Bill, these are your best yet IMHO. The f22 image is excellent, but, I agree with you about a slight nod to the f8 version if you're holding me to the wall and I have to vote.

Without hesitation I'm for F22 version; reason? Better overall DOF & better bottom flower details. IMO the unsharp top part of F8 version is disturbing the picture composition.

I really like the DOF you chose Bill. A very well crafted image.

Interesting Bill. Before seeing the f/22 version I couldn't have imagined that I'd prefer it but I do. I think it comes down to determining what the subject is. (I guess I'm at the point where I'm always going to want all of the subject in sharp focus.) By that test the subject of the first image is the upper petals on the front flower and the stamen and anthers. Whereas in the second image it's the two flowers composed with a very interesting crop.
For my tastes, the second image is exceptional - as fine a day lily image as I've seen.

My vote is for the f22 version Bill. Mainly because I think the folded petals, and the droplets on the petals, stamen, and anthers really add a lot of interest. Beautifully done!

I too prefer this one. Just the right amount of soft focus and points of detail. Good job!

I prefer the f22 version, because the details add interest to the photo. I love the comp. Nicely done.

Both are beautiful. I think the f8 version is probably more "artistic" in some senses, but the f22 version is amazingly and beautiful detailed. Your setup and composition are, as always, perfect.

They are both really great Bill. I honestly would have a hard time deciding between the two. Great vision and execution.

Love it Bill. Very pleasing to the eye. I really like how you placed the flowers facing opposite ways.

Bill, thanks for not giving up on me. There is always some hope. I really appreciate your constructive feedback and I still have a few floral shots. I will try to stay loyal. About these two shots, I prefer the first one. Shallower DOF works for me better, is less distructing and draws attention to the delicate elements of the foreground flower. Chris

Well, they're both beauties, Bill, with wonderfully delicate colouring, top notch composition and great detail. Must admit I think the f22 version, with more emphasis on the play of the stamens pointing in different directions, is my preference.

Beautiful subjects and presentation Bill. I vote for the second or F22 version too. Thanks for the lesson in settings that really show how knowing your camera settings can change the overall effect.
