Pop Art Leaves

I needed to try some new processing for a class I'm taking where we were asked to get in touch with our artistic side. The original image I used was the front of an old truck that was covered with Virginia creeper and honeysuckle. I cropped about half of the original image as it did not add anything to the composition.

I first processed the image in Viveza. Next was Color Efex-Infrared Thermal selection. The first time I used Color Efex, I saved the file and then went back into Color Efex-Infrared and the tones were reversed. I saved the file with a new name. I did this several times to get varying looks until I was happy with four. I opened a new file in Photoshop, and after resizing the four images to fit the space, I pulled each of the four into the new file.

Sort of a "pop art" look which is what I was trying to achieve. I think I definitely got in touch with my artistic side on this one.

Thoughts? Comments always appreciated. Camera is a Nikon D7000, handheld. Thanks for viewing.

Barbara, I really like the right hand half of the image. There's an appealing simplicity and I like the continuation from the bottom right to the top right. I would like to make a suggestion. First clean up the bottom right of some miscellaneous black stops. Second, eliminate the left hand side of the image. Next, duplicate the existing right half of the image to the left but reverse the horizontal direction and and do the inverse. You'll probably have some clean up to do of miscellaneous busy spots of both white and black. I think you'll end up with a great graphic design. Hope my suggestion makes sense; if not, drop me a line.

Have fun.

This is very creative Barbara and I bet it would be cool to play around with some split tones on this image.

Thanks for your comments Carol and David. I definitely had fun with this image and plan to do more work. I'm trying to "break out of the box" and not let myself get stagnant with my photography. I have learned a few things working with this image that I can incorporate into other images, as soon as I can find a few extra hours. I'm learning how to mat and frame so that is taking some of my time. But it's also another tool to use on this journey.

I appreciate your comments and hopefully will post some more "pop art" in the future. P.S. The original image can be seen on my blog, just click on the Blog link. I actually cropped half of the original image and just used the leaves. Another lesson that was learned. Thanks again for viewing.
