Ishould have opened up more and noise is only just acceptable to me

Ken, certainly looks to have been tough light (at least directionally)
I like the intent stride and gaze. Would love a little more exposure upfront but as you say you probably reached the limit before enhancing noise too much. Maybe a slight reduction in greens could help here as there seems to be a very slight green cast.

The rim lighting is dramatic. I agree with the observations about the difficulty of the exposure and I, too, see a bit of a color cast. You achieved a nice low perspective, too.

Agree with Lon, the rim lighting looks great on the old warrior and you caught him nicely in his stride ! Wish the bottom right weren't that bright, but you had little control over that. Those tiny sprouts add to "wildness" in the image.
By the way, i think there is great potential for a vertical crop here.

Thanks for the comments, light was from back right, but at least he was predominately in dappled shade.

This certainly is a difficult angle due to the direction of the light. I also think this might work better as a vertical crop. Good job in bringing out some detail in the shadows, way to go. These are really wonderful animals.

Wonderful shot of a magnificent animal Ken :^)

The fact that you've caught rim-lighting on it's RH side rescues this from being a lot less dramatic had this not been there. You didn't mention if this one's cropped or not, but if it is I think reintroducing some space on the upper and lower edges of the frame would be great, although I also have to say that I love the composition you chose.

If this were mine, I would certainly work a little noise reduction into this. All in all, a most captivating picture and thanks for sharing :^)

Jim H ,Jagdeep and Ashley,

Thanks very much for your comments.

I have just rechecked the RAW and have to admit that this is almost FF and I have no extra room top or bottom, I will try later to add a little canvas. As for NR I have allready run some, but perhaps not enough I will take another look at it.

Cheers

Ken
