Sparrow Reflections

This little song sparrow was hopping around on floating branches on the shore of the St. Charles River in Quebec City recently. I particularly like the bg in this image. I find it distracting but, at the same time, attractive and unusual. It sure would be nice to know if anyone else sees it that way!

Thank you for your interest.

1D Mark IV, 100-400mm f/4.5-f/5.6, hand held: ISO 800, 1/1000 s, f/9, 0 EV, 10.7 MP after cropping (67% of the 16 MP of the 1D Mark IV), slight NR, exposure adjustment, sharpening.

It reminds me a bit of my son's "Where's Waldo" books...a lot of brown tones and angles with the bird in the middle of it all. And that's not meant to be a "nit"! It's certainly a unique shot.

I agree with you about the setting Steve - it is busy but still quite appealing. You wouldn't get the same effect there at a lower angle but the angle on the bird does seem pretty steep.

Not sure about this one Steve. I guess the BG really does not work for me. Moreover, the water areas look very plastic to me from the NR. Sorry, just not to my taste I guess.

What I like about this image is this is how you often see this species, on the ground in a wet cluttered area. I often find myself looking down on them like this. :toast:

I often see sparrows and marsh wrens in similar environments, but I'm not particularly fond of the photos I take of them in such an environment. This shows a typical habitat very nicely, but it doesn't tug at my heart strings.

Hey, they gotta go where the action is hey
Nice job on the exposure, looks like it was low light here. Good position in the frame, nice details too:toast:
