Sands of Time

This was the first trip I've taken to Great Sand Dunes where there was no water in the creek. That made the trip a bit easier, but was in contrast to what they're expecting in terms of a runoff when this year's record snow pack begins to melt.

This was at dawn Saturday.

the compression is hurting you here quite a lot and the sky seems quite pixelated. nonetheless a nice scene with great light on the dunes and drama in the sky.

what happened to the large format camera?

The play of light and shadow on the dunes is nice and the stormy skies add some nice drama. When I first saw this I thought it was a scan from the film as it seems to have a bit of a grainy texture. Overall it feels a bit soft but maybe that is due to compression for web presentation.

MH,

Terrific light on the dunes and a somewhat ominous setting with the clouds and mountain backdrop. Interesting and complimentary how the dunes and mountains echo each others slope. And the snow-capped mountain adds to the scene. But it's the light on the dunes that really makes the scene.

I'd have to agree with the other comments about the softness and/or grainy/noisiness of the sky and in general. I think with a little more time with processing and you'll have a winner.

Looks like you had a great trip. Bring out the big toys on this trip?
