Got this shot a few minutes before the previous @ Quogue Wildlife Refuge. The bird was eyeing a feeder.

Nikon D300s 300 f4 + 1.7X TC HH
f/6.7
1/80s
ISO 1000
-.33 EC
On-board flash

Cropped to 62%, minor clone of a piece of string that was tied to the tree, sharpened using smart sharpen, eliminated additional catchlight from flash

Grand shot. I like the branches framing the bird too.

One of my favorite local birds. I like the way the branches frame the bird. Well done!

A nice look at the RBW Luke. Nice BG. ISO 1000 took away a bit of the fine detail on the bird it seems and I do wish the bird did not overlap the right branch, but these are just minor things on a nice shot.

Fine pose and beautiful capture of the colors here, Luke. I too wish that branch was not running along the back of the bird. Pretty tough to do anything about that though. Other than that nit, the shot looks great to me!

Great shot of a beautiful subject Luke :^)

Can't help wondering if stepping a pace or two to your right and perhaps one or two straight ahead, whether you'd have been able to capture this with the back of the Woodpecker free and clear of the upright branch behind it. Probably wasn't possible though, so don't pay too much attention to this thought ;^)

Luke, the detail and color in this is excellent! I also like how the bird is framed on both sides by the branches...sort of wish the right branch was't intersecting the bird, but doesn't look like you had the room to move to the right without the left side interfering in the same manner....of course, you chose the correct side to have that issue.
