Columbine Seed Pod

I've been working with my new macro lens lately and find it very challenging. While visiting my favorite arboretum this morning, I tried to take some interesting shots, but it was a bit windy. I know, I know, I shouldn't make excuses, but it really was a bit windy.

Anyway, I set up my equipment, a Nikon D7000, Tamron Macro Lens 90mm, tripod and knee pads. I found this patch of Columbine seed pods but was having trouble getting close enough without disturbing the surrounding plants. I surely didn't want to get thrown out.

I like this shot, but the image of the seed pod in the background bothers me somewhat, but at least I know where to find these again. I did a bit of work with the original image using Viveza and then I tried the Pastel-Large Brush Less Coverage plug-in from Snap Art for a different effect. I will keep on working with the macro lens and look for those interesting compositions.

Your comments are always greatly appreciated. Maybe I'll get back out there this weekend.

I love the texture you are getting with this plug-in. This has a very pleasing feel. Wind is challenging, I guess sometime you just have to bump up the ISO.

I like the seed pod in the bg, it adds an otherwordly element to the image. The processing gives the entire scene a translucent glow. Very nice

Thanks for your comments, David and Nancy. Macro photography still intrigues me very much, but it takes a lot of control; you definitely can't be in a hurry. And I love to work with different plug-ins to see how my images can be enhanced. It's all about art and what you perceive it to be. Thanks again for stopping by.
