Well, you know where! If ya'll are getting bored with this scene, I could stop posting them. Well, maybe not  I love it, and the place. It's the most magnificent place I can get to in 3 1/2 hours from my house. Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the processing and presentation. Large version included.

Wonderful B&W Chris. The large view is especially very refreshing. I also like the crystal clear appearance of the water.

Pretty winter scene, Chris. Nice sugar coating of Yosemite. The clouds center over the trees keep drawing my eye. Not sure what it is. Perhaps tone down the very white ones or brighter the slightly darker ones? Not sure. ??

I think the large version is a must see. Excellent conversion and great detail in that large one. :toast:

Impeccable, you have quite the bulging portfolio of fine winter images from Yosemite, Chris. You must have wakened the spirit of George Fiske, one of the early year round photographers in the park. Wet plate, so of course it was Black and White. Reason I mention him Chris is you seem to have been hibernating in Yosemite this winter, and one of Fiske's specialties was scenes of the park in snow.
Very nice, large image is stellar.

Paul

Ansel Adams worked with Fiske's negatives in the early twenties and believed he was the better photographer of the big three, with a more refined eye than Watkins or Muybridge.

I envy you when I hear this is 3 1/2 hours from your house! Wonderful place and scene Chris. The black and white conversion looks really good - very Ansel Adams like. I think a 4*5 rendition with more room at the bottom, to show more of that nice water and the reflection could have worked fine too. But that's just me speculating what I would have tried. This is another strong addition to your yosemite-in-winter portfolio!

Get bored with this? Not as long as you keep posting photos that are this good. I like the B&W presentation here as it further enhances the cold feeling to this. Great tonal range, detail, and clarity throughout combined with an excellent composition.

3 1/2 hours no wonder you're always there! I'd be there too! The tones through out are great but I'm thinking maybe the sky could be popped just a tad more? I'm uncalibrated though.

Classic Yosemite scene! You can tell you've developed a strong relationship with this area based on the breadth and depth of your recent work. Great stuff!

I've liked all of your Yosemite images Chris and this one is no exception. I was just thinking about the comp and considering all the V shapes at different scales in this and the sense of energy that conveys in the image. But also how well balanced that is by the fg stream. Love the conversion and the image.

Chris,

A timeless Yosemite Classic Chris and I think you nailed it; especially with the processing. I don't know that you could have done anything differently or better. Oh, maybe you could have stopped someone from throwing a snowball in the river making those ripples in the LL....

A beautiful rendition and I know one that you are excited to have in your own portfolio.
