Blacknecked Stork (male)hunting on ducks, that's why, it's not usual pose.
Normally, it feeds on fish, but when fish becomes scarce, it hunts on coots n ducks.
Thank you so much for your kind attention & views!
Canon 7D; 500mm; ISO 200; 1/1250 sec. at F9.

Beautifully photographed, Jagdeep. You achieved just enough blur of the BG to set the bird off. I love the coloring and markings of this bird. I'd guess there are not many images of this perspective of that bird. Care to tell us where you were when you took this? In a tree, cliff, balcony?

IMHO great photo! This is as far as I remember the first time I have seen a photo of this species and it is very well done. I like the detail in the stork, the color and the pose. Thank you very much for posting. This to me is one of the benifts of NPN, you get to see photos of animals you may never get a chance to see personally.

Wonderful angle on this flight shot, Jagdeep. Very interesting color pattern on the wings and back, and that neck just looks too skinny to hold up the head....... Well done.

Brilliantly exposed for detail and colours Jagdeep, and what a marvelous catchlight you caught in it's eye :^)

If this were mine I would apply some NR on the background.

Thanks friends!
Actually, a pair of Blacknecked Storks had a nest in the Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur and they had a large area to fish n hunt. I was on foot, roaming around to get some pictures and this was taken from tripod.
