Bald Eagle in Flight

This is my first post in this gallery and actually only my second attempt at avian. I've been so captivated by the challenges of landscapes and florals that the thought of trying to get a decent shot of something that moves as erratically as a bird seemed almost laughable.
Not a great or even good image by this gallery's standards but an appropriate first post considering it is Memorial Day.
This was taken Saturday near Neah Bay on the Olympic Penninsula. This is about a 50% crop shot at 300mm. The focus is inaccurate and I probably needed more SS than the 1/1250th I gave it. Hey, this avian photography is tough! All comments and suggestions appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Bruce, a good avian start. I think you got the shadowed area well & the whites may also be good but hard to see in a small image (you should try posting as well in the large option, to get better feedback). I like the backlighting in the tail. Keep trying, you will find avian very rewarding.

Nice sharp flight shot. LIke the head angle. Maybe just a little more detail in the wings.
