Another wildflower from Cedar Canyon. I enjoy the spring wildflowers. The wind was blowing rather strongly and I had to shot a bunch of shots to get any of the flowers still.

Canon 30D
Sigma 17-70
Aperture Priority
Shutter 1/60
Aperture F8
ISO 100
70mm
Curves
Cloned out a couple of distracting elements

Hi Richard, I think the detail on the foreground blossom is lovely along with the tip of the leaf popping out to capture the viewer's attention.

Haven't come to a decision about the brownish background. One minute I like it and the next, not. Will have to come back and visit this image again.

Cheers,

Carol

Great job getting that front bloom in sharp focus given any wind Richard. The colors in this are beautiful. For me, the background works very well with the subject.

Richard:
Enjoy looking at all your wildflowers. This one is nicely capture and the bg is just fine.

I like this Richard because it's a very natural looking image. Great POF and BG in my opinion.

I have looked at this image several times. To me, it is technically well done. Comp, DOF, BG, exposure and color all look good. What I also notice, in fact, what first caught my attention, are the imperfections in the flower. It just looks a little ragged. Nothing wrong with that, of course, if that is what the image is about. I don't know anything about "Cedar Canyon," so I don't know if there is more to this image than meets the eye (e.g., showing life in Cedar Canyon). The image has kind of a western or old world look to it that I like. This would be a good subject for adding some texture (see Jeremy Week's images in Photo Art).

I really like the aperture choice and it's bokeh softness. Lovely portrait.
