Bluebird Pair #2
by David Thomas
This is a different bluebird pair and nestbox from the one I posted on May 26. This box is also behind our condo, and fortunately has not been wiped out by a predator (at least not yet).
The purpose of this composition is to show the relation of the box to our high-rise condo building on the right. I used f/16 to make the building recognizable but still subordinate to the birds. I wanted both male and female at the box, but I never dreamed I would be lucky enough to get one in flight. More detail should be visible in the Larger Photo, including an insect for food.
Question: Does this work, both concept and result? I hope it will work in our condo photo contest, where identifiable condo features are almost essential to compete. Wildlife alone doesn't work -- I've tried that several times.
Canon 7D, 105mm on 75-300mm zoom, 1/800, ISO 800, matrix metering.
