The Asian Wild Dog (totally different to the one in Africa), this was our one and only sighting, they wer largely sitting on the road in either shade or bright sun.

Taken in Kanha National Park, India, 2nd May 2011

Interesting photo. The BG is rather cluttered, but not anything you could do about it and it does help set the scene for where this wild dog lives. I like the sharpness of the head and the color of the coat. I do wish you could have got more of the head facing the camera, but I like what you got! I have had an interest in primitive dogs and enjoy seeing photos of them. Thanks for sharing.

A nice view of a species we rarely get to see. Aesthetically it may not be the most pleasing setting, but I appreciate the close-up view and profile head turn helps in this light.

Apparently we have Dhole (how does one pronounce this: "Dee-Hole" or "Dole"?!?!) over here in Thailand too, something I only recently discovered when reading a book on some of our national parks. Hope to have an opportunity to see some and photograph their behavior before the end of this year.

Great shot and low angle of view you got of this one Ken and the surroundings are perfectly fine with me :^)

John, Max and Ashley,

Thanks for your comments, I do have a few more of them laying in the shade.

Ashley, good luck in your search.

Wow, that is some sly looking character Ken! The subject and that look on its face fascinate me enough to 'accept' the busy habitat and harsh light. Thanks for sharing this species.

Just a note about dhole or Asiatic wild dog. There is an old book by Fox "The Whistling Hunter" which I found to be the best work on these wild canines. I hope I got the title right. Just FYI
