Out of Season?????

Well, somebody should let Mother Nature know about it. Although this is from Feb this year, it is still snowing around here. Hail, tornadoes, thunderstorms, chain controls in the mountains, geez! So, I thought I could maybe cheat a little and get away with it! The same two trees as "An Oh Shht Moment". I'd love to hear your thoughts. Larger version included.

D200,
18-70mm,
1/2sec, F/13,

Thanks,
Chris

I love this Chris! The two trees are framed perfectly and an excellent B&W conversion. The snow adds a lot of moodiness to the scene. What else can I say except this is beautiful.

Talking about weird weather...... Tornades in MA yesterday..... a real rarity.......

Spectacular black and white tones and the composition is stellar. The detail textures in the snow on the branches is killer!

Snow scenes, where it's actually snowing are very hard to pull of successfully, but you've done it Chris. Maybe and I'm probably being a bit premature here this is another year without a summer. " See little Ice Age" one commonality is the tremendous amounts of Volcanic particulates and gases in the upper atmosphere (see Tunabora and Icelandic eruptions). So much detail in the branches it needs to be seen large.

Were you close to the tornado yesterday? And huge thunderstorms are supposed to hit the Bay Area tomorrow - more snow for Tahoe and maybe more snow for Yosemite. yikes.
This is a very peaceful scene with nice perspective and detail.

Chris,

C'mon, I know what you're doing now. You just take the same trees and scene and just repost them over and over right? I mean who can get so many epic winter images from Yosemite? Ok, all razzin' aside, this image is Exquisite (spell checker said I spelled it right.) The dusting of snow is just gorgeous in how it highlights and accentuates the form of the oaks. The foggy meadow behind is just perfect too.

Great job with the b&w processing as well. No nits from me. I hope to see a full Yosemite portfolio of prints next time we get together....

Gorgeous Chris. Being out of season is actually quite nice, as I would love to be in some snow right now - it hit 101 here on the gulf coast yesterday. This is so graphic and composed beautifully. Great shot.

Beautiful shot Chris. Certainly no nits from me. I'd say this past winter you really maximized your opportunities to shoot Yosemite with a fresh dose of snowfall . . . you have some spectacular shots, and this holds its own quite well.

Spectacular, Chris. The dark tones of the trees in the foreground are perfect, the whole range of tones is perfect, the composition is perfect. This is one stunning image in my book. You need to get a 4x5 view camera.

Killer image here Chris! I love the entire powerful winter mood it conveys and aside from the speck down at the bottom of the frame in the middle (a rock maybe?) I have nothing to critique! :toast:
