I was busy trying to get some photos of some Blue Grosbeaks when all of a sudden this little cutie popped up right in front of me. So much attitude they have! Wish for a little more dof, but I wasn't quick enough! Still, happy with this one.
Almost full frame with early am light. Bombay Hook NWF, DE

50D, 500mm, Iso200, 1/500, F4 LARGER version also posted.

It's a sweet little portrait. Agree, a bit more DOF would be nice, but the only thing you really notice is the bottom foot being a bit OOF. Definitely not a big deal, because on the big version, your eye is immediately drawn to the face and plumage detail. Very nice!

Well done, Sharon!

I've never been able to catch one of these beautiful little guys in the open.

Gorgeous detail, Sharon and a great pose. The perch on a grass leaf really conveys how small these birds are.

Hi Sharon,
Nice photo..I don't have a problem with the DOF, It's the OOF grass blade that (IMO) is a little distracting, but could be fixed.

Sharon:
Good work getting an open shot of these active birds. Ditto Terry's comment about DOF and I like the pose and perch too.
