Moccasin Flower

Also known as the Pink Lady's-slipper--it's a wild orchid; and endangered in some areas. Found a small grouping of them off a trail in the forest, but the light wasn't quite right and the BG was distracting. So, after processing - this was the result. Used several layers, a mask, 2 different reduced opacity layers of other images (birch and frost) blurred them in opposite directions, then added a slight watercolor filter to the final layer - reduced to about 10%. Full frame comp. Not my usual cup of tea...

Thanks for looking; larger version included.

Ron, I think this is beautiful. I love the pink and green against the other very muted colors. Your use of two background layers blurred in opposite directions is really interesting and looks really good here. The detail in the flower is wonderful.

The bg looks great, Ron. I think what is most outstanding to me are the surface details on the flower itself. Beautiful yet strange image.

This may not be your usual cup of tea but I really like it Ron. The muted color palette really does it for me with this image and the dark mood. Great image. :toast:
