Each spring the walls of the Columbia River Gorge bloom with life. One of my favorites is stonecrop, and this year they are doing very well. (Here is what one looks like up close.)

That is a gorgeous flower, John, and I can only imagine what an outcropping of this many must do for a person. I like your use of lines in the comp, and I suspect this will make a wonderful large print.

Beautiful find John! Thanks for providing the link. More fantastic detail close up. The NPN version has wonderful abstract qualities. Your Zenfolio link is also gorgeous and is a fantastic macro with extraordinary light, detail, and color. Wow!

Very cool, John. Looks like terracing. A nice change from the expansive Gorge shots we get used to seeing.

Very nice. I've seen this scattered about on the rocks but never in such concentration. In fact I took a few shots of some a couple days ago but haven't processed them yet. I like the lines and earthy feel this one has and the attached close-up is really cool.

Thanks everyone!! I took this while out playing in the gorge over Memorial Day weekend with a telephoto zoom borrowed from a friend. It was a lot of fun to experiment with the lens and the completely different perspective compared to my wide-angle zoom.

Stuart, since the linked photo is so much about the plant, I posted it in flora instead of Landscape/ESS. It was a WP back in 2008.

A very nice comp, John. The little yellow flowers are beautiful, and so well arranged and balanced in the frame. The rock textures are also very nice, as is the subtle intricacies of the color complements.
