This is the adult female. The four young are learning to hunt, and it's pretty amazing to watch them attack Pelicans and Gulls on one of the busiest beaches in SoCal. On Memorial day there were thousands of people here as these birds came through every half hour or so.... like a group of f-14's just a few feet over everyone's heads. Most folks never noticed. The young will attack anything that flies just because they can.

Beautiful bird and I like the comp you have chosen. That diagonal wingspread and eye contact are very appealing. Maybe not quite as sharp at the eye as desired. Maybe some selective work there.

Charlie,
I like the dynamic flight pose you captured with the fanned tail. Great eye contact too. :toast:

An awesome peregrine flight shot. I like the eye contact, spread tail and positions of the wings.

I bet that would be amazing to watch these birds among all the people. The only time I have ever seen one is in the town of Seaside outside of Monterey and they would swoop down over the beach. Nice job in getting this super fast bird, way to go.

I love the way you captured the aerodynamical wingspread and the way the lower portions of the Falcon's tail feathers seem to curve slightly upward, subtly suggesting it's gently veering in your direction. Most appealing and thanks for sharing Charlie :^)
