Spotted this small group late in the evening, thought I would try some backlite shots. Not sure about the light BG in the upper area.

Canon T1i
1/360 @ f 5.6 ISO200
Canon EF70-300 @ 160mm

I could see this working well if the BG was all darker John, but I think this works as it is too. I like the DOF. I think I would try to clone out the leaves intruding in the bottom right and the mid to upper left.

Beautiful lighting and it has a nice soft feel. I agree about removing the leaf

This has a nice dreamy feel to it John. I personally enjoy it. I think Nathan hit on something with his suggestion. Beautiful shot!

This is gorgeous John for my tastes. The light makes the image for me. I like the top as posted. My only two suggestions would be to do the cloning that Nathan suggested and to put a border on this to separate it from ground all the way round. Love the mood and the image.

I like the backlighting and colors, but I find the top is distracting. I'd make this a 4x5 ratio by cropping equal amount from the top and bottom. Just my thoughts.

I like this as is and think that the bright top tells the story of evening light. The composition is great with the cluster of three and the oof flower in the background. I would dodge the edges of that pesky leaf in the corner so it doesn't attract so much attention.

I liked the first John but do prefer this one. It's still the mood of it that has the most appeal for me. The light is very nice though and this version brings it out a bit more.
