Near Polychrome Mtn Denali NP

Just got back from a wonderful and eye opening trip of Alaska. We spent a week traveling through the inside passage including Glacier Bay and College Fjord and another week traveling to Denali NP and the Kenai Peninsula (Seward). I only wish we could've had more time to spend in each place we visited!

I shot this image near the Polychrome Pass area, I believe this is near Polychrome Mountain. Please correct me if I'm mistaken! My wife and I did a little hike up to this ridge line to get this nice view. The clouds thickened into a nice thunderstorm later that afternoon/evening.

The elevation of the peak is only 5000'!! the base around it is probably 3k-3.5k. A lot different than the sierra!

{edit} looks like this isn't Polychrome Mtn but very near to it.

Very nice B&W Cory. The sky adds a lot to this. I like the tones a lot.

Beautiful sky and dramatic scene. I am not sure about the dark shadow areas on the left, as I find the weigh down the image a bit. That aside, the image works really well.

The scale in this is truly grand Cory. I'd pump the sky contrast even a little more to match the drama below.

gorgeous b&w image - i also find the dark cloud a little heavy and feel that some of the midtones in the center of the image might be brought up just a touch. minor nits to a very nice image.

Wow, lots of great drama in the landscape. works very strong with less sky too, IMHO. The spotlighting & processing are superb. Great tone.

thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts on this. I worked this up on my laptop and will have to reevaluate on my "normal" monitor. The laptop differs slightly from my cinema display.

Gorgeous B&W Cory. Love the light and tones on the top of the peaks. A few minor things have been mentioned by others. All in all beautiful work. I visited Denali a long time ago now your image has me wanting to go back.

I really like this Cory. especially your processing. The web version is tack sharp without looking the slightest bit over sharpened. I could see opening up the shadows on the right a bit. Very impressive work here.
