Big brother is...

Their high energy consumption means their need for nectar is immense. Usually they are only hours away from starvation. The competition for sugar among the hummingbirds is fierce. They will battle each other for every flower and some will protect ‘their’ flower with all means, even against bigger species. The big brother on the right is a male Green-cowned Brillant (Heliodoxa jacula ), a species that likes to perch on everything, and the little girl on the left is a Black-bellied Hummingbird (Eupherusa nigriventris). The flower is a Hot Lips plant (Psychotria elata).

I guess if you are a cute girl you can get away with quite a lot, including stealing nectar right under the nose of a much bigger guy
Beautiful picture: I like the scene, the composition, the colors and the details

Dennis: This is a stunner!! What a great capture. I like the lighting from your 4 SB 700's. It looks great. The interaction between the two is priceless. Wonderfully rich colors. As you may know, I really love to photograph hummers, and this image is absolutely top notch. You didn't say where.. Costa Rica??

I don't get over to avian very often, but this makes me glad I did today. Very pretty image - great stop action image, and the green BG works great.
