North Shore Birch
by Nick Bristol
I think I posted this picture quite awhile back so sorry if you saw it before. I just did another large print of it again and that made me think about getting it in my gallery here, which I didn't include it in last time. I did reprocess it with hopes of a little better look for the web here this time. The 32 x 48 print looks very nice.
This was a January picture taken on the north shore of Lake Superior near the Gooseberry River. I had broke through the ice on the river and was pretty wet and cold. I took this while I was heading back to my truck to warm up and get dry clothes and boots. The setting sun was behind me and off to the right some. I liked how it was hitting the tops of the birch and wanted to get at least a couple of shots before heading on. Thanks again for looking.

Great light painting the already beautifully framed birches.
Nice work
Is this a single exposure?
Anthony, No, I not missing winter either
Tom, I will probably have one in my studio if you make it down sometime.
Richard, thanks, and yes, one exposure.

Chris, not much shadow recovery used here, but you make a good point. Although the prints look nice that might make a little better web presentation with some darker shadow on the lower trunks. Thanks much, Nick
