Another hot day today, but grabbed my camera and headed out to the garden to take some images of my corn patch. I wasn't planning on taking close-up shots and didn't even have my tripod, so this image was a surprise. Camera was set on manual, lens is 18-200mm with aperture at f/7.1 and I just clicked away.

For processing, I used three different texture overlays: Rainbow Trout and Apple Blush from Flypaper Textures and one texture that I created by combining three others and tweaking them to get the look I wanted. The coneflower is actually pink, but I adjusted the hue on one of the texture layers so the flower would change to white ... just for a different look.

Working with textures allows me to be creative and for me, that's the fun part of this art.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look. Your comments are always greatly appreciated.

Lots of texture here. I love the effect. The muted colors are also nice

The textures really make this a dreamy image. I like that you've clipped a few of the petals. That emphasizes the center of the flower and the sepals at the bottom.

Wow! Beautiful! Excellent post processing. Only nit would be that some of the flower is cut off. You should do a whole series of these and sell them as triptychs. :toast:

Thanks everyone for your comments. I love the idea of the triptychs. Working with textures is very fun, I never know what will happen. I think a series is a good suggestion as well. I need something different for a competition I want to enter so maybe a series would fit the bill.

Keep these great ideas coming my way. I appreciate them all so much.
